Every two (2) years, Master CFIs have to show that they participated in several hundred hours of continuing education, proving their commitment and dedication as a CFI. Master CFIs are instructors who are long-term CFIs, not just "time builders." These are the career instructors, dedicated to the highest level of excellence possible. Each Master CFI has to be reviewed by a board of the nation's most qualified DPEs and other experienced Master Instructors. 100s of thousands of hours of experience teaching.
We are not "box checkers" for check rides. We are the mentors, teachers, and leaders who bring real, tangible transformation to pilots, killing uncertainty and replacing it with repeatable, consistent clarity.
The accreditation is recognized and applauded by the FAA (see below) and is issued by MasterInstructors.org. I have highlighted key statements from the FAA concerning the Master CFI program below:
Barry Valentine – FAA Administrator (1997)
“The FAA is pleased to see the industry taking its own steps to raise quality and professionalism… The Master Instructor designation will truly enhance the abilities of dedicated instructors everywhere.”
Marion Blakey – FAA Administrator (2002-2007)
“The Master Instructor accreditation singles out
the best that the right seat has to offer
Robert Sturgell – Acting FAA Administrator (2008)
“Kudos to Sandy and JoAnn Hill for their dedication to the Master Instructor Program
and to the Masters themselves
There are over 140,000 CFIs in the world.
There are less than 800 Master CFIs.
Less than 200 of them are active. An active Master CFI represents the top 0.14 % of all CFIs. That’s about 1 in every 700 instructors worldwide. That's roughly 0.02 % or about 1 in every 4,500 pilots worldwide.
