For flight instructors
A teaching business starts with teaching.
A focused version of my five-step thinking for independent flight instructors.
Know who you can help.
Choose the clients and flying you understand. Learn their mission, constraints and starting point before offering a solution.
Become good at the work.
Keep developing your own flying and teaching. Be honest about your qualifications. Know when a client needs another specialist.
Build a clear training program.
Define the starting point, preparation, training objectives and how progress will be assessed. Explain inclusions and limits before taking payment.
Explain the value plainly.
Show what the training does and why it matters. Use real examples with permission. A high price is not evidence of quality, and promises are not proof.
Deliver and keep learning.
Prepare, teach, debrief and follow through. Use feedback to improve the program and help clients keep practicing after the course.
This guide condenses the teaching and business ideas in my original notes. Historical income examples and pricing models are not earnings promises or current coaching offers.
